Tentative release in March 2014
Ahead of the Darkness by Simone Nicole
It has been a long, long time since I’ve seen your little face, chérie. Not once did you visit. That really hurt; after all, it was thanks to you I was convicted. That’s not something you forget. I thought it was time— a visit was due. Seeing as you wouldn’t come to me, I thought it only right I come to you. Sadly, you weren’t home, but your furry feline was more than accommodating . . . I’ll be seeing you soon, mon chérie. I’ll always find you . . .
For six years, a letter has dictated Amelia’s future. She’s running from a past that refuses to stop, always trying to get one step ahead. Amelia is clever and resilient, and refuses to slip up. Relying only on herself, she’ll be anything and anyone she needs to survive. But everyone slips up . . . eventually. You can’t always stay ahead of the darkness
There’s a little bit of everything in Ahead of the Darkness; Mystery, romance, and some dark moments. I absolutely love the relationship between Amelia and Drew. Yet, in the book description the focus is on Amelia and her past catching up to her present. Can you tell us why you choose this to focus on?
I struggled writing the synopsis, as you know, with what to add and what not to add. A lot of contemporary romance and suspense books include the love interest or hero in it. I didn’t want to do that because what it all boiled down to is Ahead of the Darkness is Amelia’s story and hers alone but there’s always a boy… throwing spanners into the works.
Will Ahead of the Darkness be a series?
The million dollar question… the possibility is rattling around in my head (Shhh Drew!) and that’s all I can say at the moment. Hehehe
Tell us who a few of your favorite authors are and why.
This is so hard to pick just a few so I will make it short and sweet and name only 3. Amy A Bartol, for many reasons. literally (is that a word?) I adored her books (#TeamReed), the world she creates and the way she writes. Personally because I truly owe her so much. If I hadn’t stumbled upon Inescapable and started stalking her website and facebook to discover more and see what the indie author publishing was all about, I never would have met some of the most amazing people I have (You, being the first of many) or read some of the most amazing books I have, Amber Lynn Natusch’s Caged series being one of them (I adore her too!) and for being so down to earth and amazing and lovely. Amy also led me, indirectly to my next two authors, through Cristina’s book blog (I started stalking her awesomeness too). Amy Harmon wrote one of the most beautiful books I have ever read (A different Blue). From the beginning to the end, it was just perfect, I strive to write so beautifully. Amy is so amazingly humble and ridiculously sweet. Last but never least, Madeline Sheehan. Never has a book rip so many emotions out of me, repeatedly! Undeniable was…gah! It rocked my world hard, literally. I was a mess and I loved it! She writes so intensely and takes her readers on the craziest ride. Madeline is also one of the awesomest people I’ve never had the pleasure to met and my hat goes off to her for the crappola and drama she seems to attract with her AWESOME books, yet she never stopped writing or changed who she is (thank gawd!).
If you ever visit the U.S. for a major book tour (or any other reason) and don’t visit me… what do you think I’ll do?
I dread to think what you would do. Kidnap Reed and all books contain him? Kidnap me and keep me forever? <— I’m ok with that one.
Coffee or tea? Both, except I order chai tea more often.
Wolverine, Thor, or Superman? Tricky. I think I would have to go with Thor but I love Henry more than Chris, LOL.
Middle of the day comfort food? Hot chips or Yum Cha
(I just googled Yum Cha lol)
Middle of the night? Hmm, I’m not a midnight snacker. If I’m awake I’d be reading or writing…possibly drinking so words or booze, lol.
The Australian writing and book blogging community is a pretty tight and supportive group of awesomeness. What have you learned from these amazing women?
Gee, what haven’t I learnt. Small details like which colour paper is better (cream), to big things like formatting and uploading.
Are there any book signing events coming up that you will attend and people can start their must-stalk-Simone campaign?
Yes! I am so excited. My first book signing will be at the Indie Authors Down Under event on the Gold Coast in March. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Indie-Authors-Down-Under/708010185882510

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Self-confessed chocoholic and undiagnosed crazy person, Simone can be found climbing Himalayan mountaintops like a ninja, sky diving backwards and rubbing shoulders with billionaires. She is also full of crap, but can read backwards and upside down.
